Sharing hope to adults with special needs and their families through the clubhouse and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through his word, deeds, and THERAPEUTIC REHABILIATION and transitional housing Communities for those who are incarcerated and their families.
Second Heart Ministries of Reconciliation is a Christian, registered not-for-profit charity (501(c)(3)), dedicated to serving the “least of these” (Matthew 25: 31-46.) This Christ-centered calling was born out of the many conversations with parents of adults with special needs who were not only the parent but the sole caregiver with little to no outside support and from the loneliest, darkest, hopelessness, and desperation of people who are currently locked away in the Tennessee Department of Correction. This ministry desires to offer the parents/caregivers of adults with special needs the break they need either in the form of day services and/or monthly respite events.
Second Heart Ministries of Reconciliation also is centered on the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the ministry of reconciliation to the millions of men and women who are incarcerated in the various States’ Departments of Correction and helping them to re-enter society with a hope, a plan, and the physical support needed to succeed. Most of these men and women have come to the point in their lives that they believe the saying, “it is better to be dead, then to be thrown away and locked away, forgotten by all of humanity and know no love while being alive.” These men and women need to be shown the love and hope of Christ. The church is charged with taking the light of Christ to the entire world, including those who are incarcerated. However, most of the local churches have no active, viable, personal prison ministry.
The words penitentiary and penitent are rooted together. Webster’s Dictionary defines penitentiary as: “(n.) a place to find penitence.” Webster’s Dictionary defines penitent as: “(adj.) to be sorry, cause to be sorry: feeling or expressing pain or sorrow for sins or offenses: sincerely affected by a sense of guilt and resolved on amendment of life.” The penitentiary was designed to be a place where men and women who have violated the laws of this land can find penitence. However, as you and I both know, no one can find true, lasting penitence without first calling out to God, repenting of their sins, and accepting the free gift of grace and forgiveness found only in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
